To Err is Human to Forgive the Register – Not so Divine!

Catch pricing errors at the register. Because stores typically have over 5,000 price changes per week, it is not uncommon for the price at the register to ring up higher than the price shown on the shelf. Although it is possible that the price at the register would ring up lower than the shelf price, industry studies have shown that overcharging occurs three times as often as undercharging. Many stores have a price guarantee policy that gives the shopper the item FREE if the shopper notices and points out a price discrepancy. At the very least, if you pay attention to prices as your order is rung up, you will be able to have the price corrected if you notice an overcharge. In some cases, the price may be correct but you may have picked up the wrong variety of the item, so by paying attention to prices at the register you will be able to get the correct sale item before leaving the store. It is important to be aware of the prices of your items and watch the prices at the register. If you notice a discrepancy after you have left the store, simply save the receipt and take it to the customer service desk the next time you go to that store. I have personally saved quite a bit of money over the years by paying attention to prices and being aware of my stores’ price guarantee policies. This is where some area stores really shine in customer service. If you catch a error – tell the store. Believe me they would rather give away an item to you then have several customers over charged! Watch your receipt!! This week I caught two errors and got $8.35 back!!

Great Tips for the Laundry Room

Great tip for the Laundry Room –
We save on fabric softener by applying a small amount of liquid fabric softener to a old clean sock, then toss the sock into the dryer with the wet clothes. Just press part of the sock right over the opening of the softener bottle, tip the bottle over enough for a small amount of softener (size of a quarter works for us), to be deposited onto the sock.

Of course you can use an old washcloth, or whatever, but keep reusing it. I used a sock because I can easily keep track of it by tying it around the neck of the softener bottle.
I used a generous coupon to buy the softener about a year ago, and still have nearly 1/2 of the bottle left! (PS: lavender scent on your sheets and pj's really will help you sleep like a baby.) Also we stopped adding softener to the washer rinse cycle because items that need to be absorbent, like towels, socks, etc. become less absorbent when coated with softener over a period of time. The dryer does a good job of making most things come out soft anyway, even without softener.

Or cut sponges in half and keep them in a plastic container on top of the dryer filled with fabric softener diluted with water. Use pair of tongs to squeeze out the sponge and toss it into the dryer.

To Err is Human to Forgive the Register – Not so Divine!
Catch pricing errors at the register. Because stores typically have over 5,000 price changes per week, it is not uncommon for the price at the register to ring up higher than the price shown on the shelf. Although it is possible that the price at the register would ring up lower than the shelf price, industry studies have shown that overcharging occurs three times as often as undercharging. Many stores have a price guarantee policy that gives the shopper the item FREE if the shopper notices and points out a price discrepancy. At the very least, if you pay attention to prices as your order is rung up, you will be able to have the price corrected if you notice an overcharge. In some cases, the price may be correct but you may have picked up the wrong variety of the item, so by paying attention to prices at the register you will be able to get the correct sale item before leaving the store. It is important to be aware of the prices of your items and watch the prices at the register. If you notice a discrepancy after you have left the store, simply save the receipt and take it to the customer service desk the next time you go to that store. I have personally saved quite a bit of money over the years by paying attention to prices and being aware of my stores’ price guarantee policies. This is where some area stores really shine in customer service. If you catch a error – tell the store. Believe me they would rather give away an item to you then have several customers over charged! Watch your receipt!!

Triple Coupons this week at Harris Teeter

Wednesday morning as the TV blared the news of “black ice” and school closings, I waited for the familiar sound of my new carrier’s tires up the road. As my face is pasted against the window - I see her. I ran out and grabbed the paper and quickly ripped out the middle of the paper – the weekly ads! As I began to notice the lack of feeling in my feet I saw it. In cardinal red and gold large letters on the right side of the flyer a phrase that made me forget about my feet – TRIPLE COUPONS! Ah yes… Harris Teeter is offering triple coupons from Thursday morning until Sunday evening. The rules are simple. You may only use 20 coupons at a time. Every coupon with a face value of less that $.99 will be tripled in value. So that means a $.75 coupon for Colgate is worth $2.25!!
So how do you make the most of this time?
Get Organized go through all of your coupons and select all the high value coupons out.
Make sure all of the selected coupons you are going to use have not expired.
The best times to shop are Thursday morning, Saturday morning and Sunday morning. So you may need to go several times to get all the great deals.
Even though you maybe on toothpaste or deodorant “restriction” if you can get a great deal on those types of items do it and donate it. Many churches and local agencies would love to have items you get for next to nothing!
